hodge podge

Busy busy busy. Expecting a baby this summer and working toward an impending May deadline at work. Not much time or energy for hobbies. I DJ tonight, in one hour in fact, and found some sweet tunes while sorting through the music I'd like to play tonight but that don't quite fit the bar scene.

Smack That Thing - Walter Coleman

Which reminds me of the documentary I saw a couple weeks ago:

Desparate Man Blues...

and the accompanying documentary about the King of Record Collectors, Joe Bussard

Friday Night DJ Playlist

I DJ in a wee Irish pub in Champaign, Illinois. By request, I'm going to start posting playlists.
(The order got messed up a bit in the list below, the addition of more reggae than usual, the Pogues and the "Rednecks" song was in tribute to a dear friend of all, Chef Ra, who passed away two years ago on Christmas. Song is linked for mp3 sample, artists linked to myspace page.)

She has returned.

I have been a bad blogger, Anyone who has dilligently kept me on their RSS feed reader or who finds me on hypem or somesuch service, do not dismay. I will post more cool obscure retro 50s-60s finds soon. I miss blogging. I was doing some work on a blog for my job and the idea of doing anything blog-related for pleasure just simply seemed wrong. But, I have returned. I'll keep it brief. I know, all you want is the music and the silly pictures.

Download Christmas Tree On Fire by Holly Golightly

Download Don't Believe In Christmas by The Sonics

Here's a picture of my Christmas tree, decorated with some scratched up 45s that either aren't worthy enough to rock my turntable or refuse to:

I Despise You - Q65 (mp3)

25 January 2008

Dirty and sexy and raw! Oh my!

Oooh! Nasty! That's how I feel! I've been working my tush off for the man and the weekend is here, not to mention the W2 form, so the tax return will be coming soon and I'm ready to RELAX. I'm going on vacation. Any ideas?

In the meantime, these songs are kind of dirty, and sexy, and raw, and fit my mood just about right. Enjoy.

Q 65 - And your kind

Underground Balloon Corps. - Heart made of Soul

The Belles - Melvin

Dukes of Hamburg - Mercy Mercy

Holly Golightly - You Have Yet To Win
